Who We Are
Umbra Anesthesiology strives to provide a safe anesthetic with comfort and no recall of minor surgical procedures performed in a private and convenient ambulatory environment. We are able to focus on you, while your surgeon focuses on the procedure. This is done by administering state of the art medications through an IV, or inhalation anesthetics through a breathing tube. You will recover rapidly from the short acting medications we use, and therefore have a more pleasant experience than one without sedation.
80% of surgeries performed in the U.S. are done on an outpatient basis. Office-based anesthesia has expanded to meet this demand. We at Umbra, believe that patients and physicians deserve choice when it comes to their anesthetic needs.
Meet the Team
Derrick D. Jones, M.D.
Anesthesiologist
Dr. Jones has practiced anesthesiology since 1992. He is a previous chief of the anesthesiology department at the Roy L. Schneider Regional Medical Center. As chief, he worked as the leader of the clinical anesthesia staff that included anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists. He brings excellent communication skills, leadership and proven dedication to the Virgin Islands community.
Dr. Jones received his B.S, in chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana and was awarded his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology residency at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Jones is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and has held several anesthesiology positions at hospitals in the USA and the Caribbean.
Paul M. Nataloni, M.D.
Anesthesiologist
Dr. Nataloni has been practicing anesthesiology since 1996. He is a native New Yorker who has been a resident of St. Croix for 10 years. He permanently relocated to St. Croix in 2019. He is excited to provide anesthesia services to the people of the Virgin Islands, facilitating their obtaining health care services at home.
Dr. Nataloni completed his undergrad degree of Maturita Scientifica from Liceo Scientifico, Bologna Italy and Medical School in Italy. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Connecticut and Tuft’s University.
Dr. Nataloni has held positions at Peconic Anesthesiologist and Long Island Anesthesia Physicians in New York. He has been a member of Umbra Anesthesiology since 2019.
